Dr. Matthew DeLaney

Dr. Matthew DeLaney is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Matthew has worked in a wide variety of academic and community emergency departments and has a particular skill in making medical education that can help folks not only crush the boards but also be excellent at the bedside. Matthew lives in a house full of women, including his two daughters and his wife Erin, who is a family medicine physician and is without any doubt the best doctor in the DeLaney house.

Dr. Jennifer Beck-Esmay

Dr. Jennifer Beck-Esmay is an associate professor of emergency medicine and assistant residency director at Mt. Sinai Morningside and Mt. Sinai West in New York City.  Dr. Beck-Esmay received a degree in drama from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, completed medical school at the University of Minnesota and returned to NYC to complete residency at NYU-Bellevue.  She is passionate about emergency medicine education and gender equity in medicine and is proud to have contributed content to numerous resources including FemInEM, R.E.B.E.L. EM, EMDocs, EM:RAP, Emergency Medicine Abstracts, ERCast, UC:RAP, CoreEM and Critical Care Now. She has spoken nationally and internationally at SMACC, FIX, EEM, ACOEP, ACEP, SEMPA, CORD  and Rebellion in EM.  Most importantly, she is a proud mama for 4-year-old human, Lilith, and 6-year-old feline, Khonshu.

Dr. Ilene Claudius

Dr. llene Claudius trained at UCLA for medical school and a combined residency in Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine. She is currently a Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the David Geffen school of Medicine at UCLA, and director of Process and Quality Improvement for the Emergency Department at Harbor-UCLA.

Dr. Cameron Crosby

Dr. Cameron Crosby is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he serves as Assistant Medical Director of the University Emergency Department. He has worked in both community and academic emergency medicine, and In addition to his clinical and leadership responsibilities, he is deeply involved in resident education and was honored with his department’s “Lecturer of the Year” award.

Dr. Crosby’s academic and research interests center on infectious diseases and global health education. He has received advanced training in tropical medicine and is active in both domestic and international medical education initiatives. With a passion for equipping healthcare providers in both high- and low-resource settings, Dr. Crosby brings a broad perspective to emergency medicine education and board preparation.

Dr. Tarlan Hedayati

Associate Professor and Chair of Education in the Department of Emergency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. She organizes the curriculum and educational activities for the 68 residents in the EM residency training program, oversees the medical student clerkships, integrates Ultrasound and Simulation education into the curriculum, and creates and overseas academic advising plans for the residents. She is a nationally and internationally recognized speaker and expert in Cardiac Emergencies, Critical Care, Resuscitation, and Medical Education. She received the 2023 American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) National Emergency Medicine Faculty Teaching Award and was named the 2019-20 Outstanding Speaker of the Year by ACEP. She has written and done editorial work for numerous emergency medicine textbooks and has been published in several journals, including Cardiology Clinics, Journal of Emergency Medicine, Academic Emergency Medicine, and NEJM.

Dr. Andrew Kalnow

Andrew "Drew" Kalnow is an Assistant Program Director and Director of Simulation for the emergency medicine residency program at OhioHealth Doctors Hospital in Columbus, OH.  In addition, he serves as an EMS medical director for several Central Ohio Fire/EMS agencies and is faculty for the OhioHealth EMS Fellowship. He is a regular medical podcast contributor and co-host of EM Over Easy, an emergency medicine podcast focused on “More than Medicine”.  Drew attended Kenyon College for his undergraduate degree, received his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his emergency medicine residency training at Doctors Hospital-OhioHealth. Beyond simulation and resident education, Drew is passionate about learning theory, rapid delivery of cold water and warm blankets to patients, promoting the emergency medicine community and spreading the gospel of video laryngoscopy.

Dr. Gita Pensa

Gita Pensa is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Brown University. Her expertise lies in clinical medicine, risk management, and legal performance for clinicians. She practiced community emergency medicine for 13 years before joining Brown's faculty in 2015. Dr. Pensa was the editor of the Academic Emergency Medicine journal’s monthly research podcast through 2024 and remains a managing editor at Emergency Medicine Reviews and Perspectives (EM:RAP) as co-host of UC Max. She was named the EMRA (Emergency Medicine Residents' Association) National Faculty Mentor of the Year in 2018, and in 2019 she was awarded a Special Service Recognition Award from Rhode Island ACEP for “courageous public advocacy of Rhode Island Emergency Medicine Colleagues.” In 2020, she received the Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching from the Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University.

Chris Reilly

Hi, I’m Chris Reilly, a board-certified emergency medicine physician based in NYC. I serve as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and as an Attending Physician at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn. My journey began as a student-athlete during my undergraduate years at Johns Hopkins University. I went on to earn a Master’s in Biomedical Sciences at Drexel University, attended medical school at St. George’s University, and completed a three-year Emergency Medicine residency at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital in Tampa Bay. My passion for education led me to pursue a two-year medical education fellowship at Maimonides, during which I earned a Master’s in Health Professions Education (MHPE) from Massachusetts General Hospital. I also completed the Program for Educators in Health Professions at Harvard Medical School and the ACEP/CORD Teaching Fellowship.

My educational work focuses on creating engaging curricula, podcasting (EMRA*Cast and EM:RAP), and leveraging digital and AI technologies to enhance medical education for the next generation of learners. Additionally, I am the co-founder of RapidRads Medical Education, where we teach radiology to non-radiologists.In emergency medicine, my specific interests include electrocardiography, radiology (CTs and X-rays), and airway management. Outside of medical education, you’ll often find me playing live music, golfing, or spending quality time with family and friends.

Dr. Christina Shenvi

Dr. Christina Shenvi is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at UNC-Chapel Hill, an academic leader, and a keynote speaker with a passion for teaching, learning science, and innovative pedagogy. She is fellowship-trained in Geriatric Emergency Medicine and has received multiple national awards for teaching, including the ACEP Outstanding Speaker Award. She co-directs the ACEP/CORD Teaching Fellowship and teaches time management and career success through her platform, Time For Your Life.

Dr. Jan Shoenberger

Dr. Jan is co-host and co-editor of EM:RAP. Dr. Shoenberger is the Chief of Department of EM at Los Angeles General Medical Center, and Professor of Clinical EM at Keck School of Medicine of USC. Double-boarded in EM and Hospice & Palliative Medicine, Jan brings a deep passion for patient care to all aspects of her career.

Dr. Corey Slovis

Dr. Corey Slovis is the founding Chairman of Vanderbilt's Department of Emergency Medicine and served in that role from July 1992 until July 2020. He is currently the Medical Director for the Nashville Fire Department and Nashville's International Airport. He has completed residencies in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine at Emory University and Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Emergency Medical Services. Dr. Slovis has won multiple educator awards and has published more than 100 peer reviewed publications, numerous book chapters, and has co-authored three books. Dr. Slovis is a runner and practices yoga both aggressively and poorly. He is married to Dr. Bonnie Slovis, Professor Emeritus of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.

Jessie Werner

Board certified in Emergency Medicine, Jessie earned her medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She then completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. After residency she completed a fellowship in Medical Education at University of San Francisco, Fresno. Dr. Werner is the Program Director for the Emergency Medicine Medical Student Clerkship at USF Fresno. She is also an SJV PRIME Career Launch Working Group Leader.
